So I got my flight details. I was not expecting a concrete booking until next week, but the people at Projects Abroad are ridiculously efficient.
So my trip to Kathmandu looks like this:
Sydney to Singapore (QF5), Departing on the 6th of December at 4:55pm, and Arriving in Singapore at 9:45pm (Singapore time) on the same day. That's roughly 8 hours in the air.
Following a 1/2 hour transit at Changi, I depart for Delhi at 10:10pm (Singapore time) and arrive at 2:20am (Delhi time). So that's about 7 hours, travelling Jet Airways (more on them later).
Then we hit our first real snag. I have a 5.5 hour transit at Delhi, after which I fly Jet Airways again, leaving at 7:45am (Delhi time), and arriving in Nepal at 9:30am (Kathmandu time). That final trip takes about 1.5 hours.
All up, that is a grand total of something like 23 hours of travel, which means I should arrive in Nepal around 3:30pm Sydney time. I think. My timezone calculations are probably a bit off, but this does sound about right.
I haven't travelled that long since we went on holidays to India a few years ago. And come to think of it, we spent 3 days in Singapore before going on to Delhi that time so really this maybe the longest travel-time I've ever had to endure since I was a little kid.
The length of travel is freaking me out a little, as is the almost 6 hour transit by myself at Delhi, some of which will be literally in the middle of the night. But then I remind myself that I'll be in the airport, with other fellow adventure seekers, and I calm down a little.
In other news, I think I'm going to enjoy my time on Jet Airways. I had a look at their in-flight entertainment schedule, and...well... just go see for yourselves:
Let's just say boredom will probably not be a huge factor on those runs. Short of the Kiefer himself being n my flight, I really couldn't think of a more worthy way to pass my time.
